10 Tips for Growing Basil Inside

Knowing the pH level of your soil is another key trick. The herb is best grown in soil which is between 6 and 7.5 on the pH scale. Another trick which should be noted is to make sure that the basil plants get enough light from the sun (between 6-8 hours each day). This can be ensured by placing the plants on your windowsill where they will have access to all of the energy it needs to grow and mature.
I would advise placing a few basil seeds in each pot’s soil. Sew them quite thin, so that your herbs will have the perfect space to begin the steady process of germination. The amount of time this should take should not be more than a week after you sew the seeds, and once the plants have developed two full leaves, it is time to remove the two weaker plants, just leaving the strongest.
Water your basil at the base of the plant rather than watering over the leaves and stems. The trick is to keep watering the plants about once a week for the most beneficial. You should also trim off any flowers as they appear, as this will ensure better flavour, and promote its growth even further.
A great thing about this basil is that you can germinate it all year round. The final trick is not to harvest a complete plant, but to take a few leaves from each specimen, beginning at the top of the plants. That way additional basil can be harvested as and when needed.
